Food is originally from my first EP 'You'll Be Here'. The initially released version only had one verse and a looping chorus. I've always wanted it to have a bit more so here's the full version of Food!

I just wanna stay at home. I don't wanna go alone. I just wanna eat some scones. Can you blame me?

Line by line; I wish I could just stay at home and do whatever I'd like, I don't want to die alone, I love eating pastries, and I feel like a lot of people share these sentiments.

I don't wanna go to work. I don't wanna fake my smirk. I just wanna make sugar. Can you blame me?

Line by line; I don't want to feel like I'm working- but I personally love working on my passions, whenever we do go into our actual work places we usually have to force a smile to appease customers / residents that we serve, when we just want to make money (sugar), and yet again I feel like a lot of people share these sentiments.

Cause we are people looking people looking for a people person...

It's natural for a person to feel some sort've attraction to a person who is social and outgoing, or a 'people person'.

...with a passion for our fashion and another one to fasten.

But when we look for this specific person, we usually try to find similarities between one another.

To eat a couple cupcakes with a cobbler and some coffee that would pair together nicely with an icee and a toffee

These lines list out a bunch of different foods. The gist of the song represents food choices as different partners and possible relationships. The juxtaposition continues in the chorus.

So many foods, all I could choose; salad or fruits, bamboo shoots. Sushi too, through and through. Despite all this, I need you!

The comparison between foods and people continue and despite all these choices, at the end of the day, I'd always choose the person I'm dedicated to.

I don't wanna be alone. I just wanna be your home. I can't find a rhyme for scones. Can you blame me?

The second verse continues with the theme of not wanting to be alone and wanting to be able to be considered a 'home' to someone else. Dead ass I couldn't think of something for the third line in this verse (yes you can blame me)

I think we can make it work. I don't have to fake my smirk. You can be my sweet sugar. Can you blame me?

These lines are supportive of the possible partner, saying we could make things work and it could all be genuine.

I know we're people lookin' people lookin' for a people person and our passion for our fashion is to fasten one another. We'll eat a couple cupcakes with a cobbler and some coffee that would pair together nicely with an icee and a toffee.

The intent of the pre-chorus remains the same but some lines are slightly changed for variation.

So many foods, all I could choose; salad or fruits, bamboo shoots. Sushi too, through and through. Despite all this, I need you!

Chorus repeats!

Stay inside I'll be so good to you. I'll make your food.

Me sending off the song with a cute promise🧑‍🍳😋🥞

Despite the formal feel, Bossa Nova style, and 'fine dining' title, the track ends with me using a microwave and the meal being cold and low quality.
